In Vietnam, the pandemic has been temporarily put under control with a high vaccination coverage, the ministry said.
Based on the pandemic situation and the Government Decree 89/2018/NĐ-CP regulating the implementation of the Law on infectious disease prevention and control regarding border health quarantine, the Ministry of Health asked the People's Committees of localities to guide agencies to temporarily cancel the requirement to make health declarations for all arrivals from April 27.
However, localities must still continue to monitor entrants at border gates, the Ministry of Health said.
Meanwhile, a new medical quarantine process at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City has helped ease congestion amid the rising number of passengers in recent days, according to VietnamPlus.
According to the municipal Department of Health, the airport handles 40 inbound flights each day carrying from 4,000-4,500 passengers.
Since April 25, the city’s Department of Health has applied measures to renovate the quarantine process at the airport, including the exemption Covid-19 test checks.

As airlines are required to ensure all passengers are negative for Covid-19, the department asked the city’s Centre for Disease Control to skip this process at the airport.
The department requested the airport to regulate passengers’ movements upon their arrival. Those who successfully make their health declarations will follow a separate stream to complete immigration procedures. Meanwhile, those who have yet to do so can make their declarations while moving from the plane to the terminal or into a private area with the support of medical workers or airline staff.
Since the new process has been applied, congestion at the airport has greatly reduced.
The number of new Covid-19 infections in Vietnam has reduced significantly. The country recorded 8,004 cases and five deaths on April 27, according to the Ministry of Health.
By April 26, the country had injected 213,317,994 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, including 1,008,414 first shots for children from five to 11 years old./.
