Vietnam Seeks Stronger Cooperation With French City

At a meeting with the Mayor of Grenoble Eric Piolle, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang highlighted Grenoble’s cooperation with Vietnam, especially in higher education, scientific-technological research, and high-tech, expressing his hope for stronger collaboration in the areas.
Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang wishes to continue promoting cooperation with Grenoble in the above fields. They are the strengths of the city, meeting the requirements and serving the upcoming development journey of Vietnam and France.
The Mayor of Grenoble expressed pride in the city's strength in science and technology training, which annually receives nearly 10,000 foreign students, out of a total of 60,000 students and graduate students.
Among these are dozens of Vietnamese graduate students, and people working at research institutes, contributing to the close connections between the city and Vietnam.
Mayor Eric Piolle expressed his willingness to cooperate in areas that Vietnam is interested in and Grenoble has strengths in.
The mayor said that in addition to the strong and long-standing relationship in the fields of university training, and scientific and technological research, the two sides need to take new steps in economic and trade cooperation. In addition, cultural exchange also needs to be emphasized.

During the business trip, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang worked with leaders of investment and trade agencies in the Grenoble Alpes region, visiting several of Grenoble's major research and training facilities.
Some of the facilities include CEA Leti, a pioneer in the field of micro and nanotechnology, UGA/Gipsa-lab, specializing in imaging, sound, signals, and automation, and ST- Microelectronic, researching electronic chip, and semiconductor technology.
These are France's leading agencies in the research and development of new science and technology projects serving the fields of energy, national security and defense, information and communications technology, materials science, life sciences, and health.
They are also units with long-standing cooperation programs with Vietnam in the fields of training, research, and development.
At the working sessions, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang learned about the operating environment, and shared about investment and trade opportunities with Vietnam.
The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam is a developing country with needs in infrastructure, industry, energy, microelectronics, and healthcare.
He expressed his desire to develop a partnership with Grenoble in these areas.
Highlighting the prospect for cooperation between enterprises from Vietnam and the Grenoble region, Director of Invest Grenoble Alpes Métropole Nicolas Béroud spoke highly of Southeast Asia’s impressive growth in the region.
He held that Vietnamese startups could roll out their projects in Grenoble, especially those in the areas of semiconductor, digital technology, healthcare, and new energy.

During his working trip to Grenoble City, Ambassador Thang, and his spouse attended a Tet gathering held by the General Union of the Vietnamese People in Isère region and the Association of Vietnamese Students in Grenoble.
