According to Hoang Quoc Vuong, chairman of the Vietnam-UK Friendship Association, the association built a strong network of partners with many organizations, schools, businesses and individuals related to education.
This network creates favorable conditions for connecting and sharing knowledge resources, opening up opportunities for cooperation and exchange of experiences, helping to take advantage of young knowledge resources and the Vietnamese intellectual community.
Through international seminars and forums hosted/coordinated by the association, intellectuals in the UK, Vietnam and other countries meet, exchange cultures and knowledge, share experiences and models.
That contributes to the development of the Vietnam-UK friendship and cooperation.
In addition, the Central Committee of the Vietnam-UK Friendship Association and its member carried out many people-to-people diplomacy activities, connecting young intellectual resources, the Vietnamese community in the UK, scholars, scientists, and entrepreneurs.
That helps promote the development and application of knowledge in cooperation, helping to put the association's activities into practice and depth through the initiative to organize international forums, conferences and seminars on the fields of interest to Vietnam and the UK.
These fields include promoting economic cooperation, extensive trade, responding to climate change and sustainable development towards a low-carbon economy.

The Central Committee of the Vietnam-UK Friendship Association hosted the economic and trade forum with two discussion sessions on the topic "Promoting Vietnam UK economic and trade cooperation" and "Responding to the climate change and the low-carbon economy" by 2021, and the international conference "50 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the UK: Achievements and Prospects" in March 2023.
These two events aimed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
These events attracted a large number of experts, scientists, policymakers interested in raising and improving the quality of trade flows, attracting high-quality, green investment between the two countries.
They also affirmed the practical companionship and support of the British government in helping Vietnam in energy transition, providing policy recommendations to the Vietnamese government towards net zero emissions by 2050.
Enhancing understanding between peoples of the two countries through competitionsFrom 2020, in order to adapt to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Vietnam-UK Friendship Association renews the form, and applies information technology on a digital platform to organize the competitions. In 2021, the association in collaboration with the University of Economics and Business-Vietnam National University and the British Embassy in Hanoi successfully organized a contest to find out the background and career of Queen Elizabeth II towards the 70th anniversary of the Queen's reign (June 2, 1952 - June 2, 2022). The contests attract the participation of a large number of high school students, university students, and the enthusiastic support of parents. They are appreciated by the British Embassy and British educational institutions in Vietnam. The organization of international competitions, forums and seminars makes an important contribution to strengthening exchanges and connections between the Central Committee of the Vietnam-UK Friendship Association, the Vietnam-UK Association in localities and its member branches. The success of the events also creates spillover value. They create the impetus for the University of Economics and Business-Vietnam National University and the Vietnam-UK Friendship Association to build programs connecting Vietnam with other partners such as RoK, Germany, France and the European Union. |
