General Secretary To Lam noted with satisfaction the support Nicholas Berggruen and Nguyen Thi Lien Hang have provided in strengthening Vietnam–US relations. He emphasized that Vietnam highly values its relationship with the US and aspires to further bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the people and businesses of both countries, which thereby contributes to peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region and worldwide.

Highlighting the substantive and effective developments in the Vietnam–US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, General Secretary To Lam acknowledged the significant contributions of businesses, scholars, and citizens from both countries. He proposed that Berggruen and Hang explore new opportunities for investment and research in Vietnam while effectively implementing existing cooperation agreements between Columbia University and Vietnamese universities.
General Secretary To Lam stressed that Vietnam is entering a new era of development. The entire Party and people of Vietnam are making concerted efforts to fulfill the goals set at the 13th Party Congress: transforming Vietnam into an upper middle-income developing country by 2030 and achieving high-income developed country status by 2045.
To achieve these objectives, Vietnam remains steadfast in its commitment to building an independent, self-reliant economy while deeply integrating into the global economy. The country prioritizes science, technology, innovation, and the development of high-quality human resources as strategic breakthroughs and decisive factors in enhancing national competitiveness and achieving sustainable development. This approach combines fostering internal capacity with maximizing external opportunities and resources.
The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam will continue to create favorable conditions for foreign investors, including those from the US, and prioritizes advancing educational cooperation, cultural exchange, and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
For their part, Nicholas Berggruen and Nguyen Thi Lien Hang commended Vietnam's achievements and the positive progress in Vietnam–US relations. They expressed admiration for the vision of Vietnam’s leaders and General Secretary To Lam and affirmed to support initiatives to further strengthen bilateral relations, promote suitable investment opportunities, and contribute to Vietnam's efforts to meet its development goals.
