Vietnamese Community in Hungary Strengthens Bilateral Cooperation

2021 is a special year marking a positive development in the Vietnam-Hungary Comprehensive Partnership. Leaders of the two countries had many high-level meetings. Two-way trade turnover was over US$1.1 billion and the import-export ratio is gradually becoming more balanced.

Despite difficulties because of Covid-19, Vietnam has received valuable and timely support from the Government, local authorities, Hungarian, and overseas Vietnamese living, studying and working in Hungary.

The Vietnamese community in Hungary has over 5,000 people, facing difficulties due to Covid-19. However, overseas Vietnamese have donated medical supplies and cash worth over VND10 billion (US$441,501), including more than 12.5 tons of medical supplies worth nearly VND9 billion and over VND1.3 billion in cash to help the homeland fight the pandemic.

The Prime Minister and President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee and Committee for Overseas Vietnamese awarded certificates of merit to the Association of Vietnamese in Hungary and several individuals for their outstanding contributions to the prevention of Covid-19.

The Party and State consider overseas Vietnamese an integral part of the Vietnamese community. Ambassador Nguyen Thi Bich Thao said that the Embassy would continue to accompany the Vietnamese Association in Hungary to build a united and strong Vietnamese community in Hungary.

The ambassador believes that the Vietnamese community in Hungary will contribute important resources to help the homeland develop and strengthen the Vietnam-Hungary friendship.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Hungary Phung Kim San expressed honor and pride in the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Hungary, which were recognized and rewarded by the Vietnamese leaders.

He also reviewed the activities of the Association in 2021 and announced several plans for 2022. In 2021, the Covid-19 pandemic greatly affected all economic activities in Hungary.

The Vietnamese Association has organized fundraising activities to help the country fight the pandemic, donated to help people affected by storms and floods, and supported people in the fight against the Covid-19.

Vietnamese associations in Hungary have made donations to support the vaccine fund and people in the country. This support will continue.

On the New Year 2022, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Bich Thao, officials and employees of the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary visited a temple to wish the monks at Tue Giac Pagoda a happy new year.

The Embassy also wished associations, Vietnamese delegations, businesses and people to have a happy, peaceful and prosperous new year.
