The Vietnamese community in Slovakia, the associations of Kosice city, and the eastern provinces of Slovakia recently have coordinated with the local authorities to send people on duty 24/24 at the border to welcome and help people fleeing from Ukraine to Slovakia, including Vietnamese people.

The community mobilized to raise money and necessities to serve the needs of the evacuees.

On March 18, the delegation of the Vietnamese Embassy in Slovakia led by Ambassador Nguyen Tuan visited and worked at FPT Slovakia in Kosice city, Slovakia.

FPT Slovakia is a subsidiary of the FPT Corporation, which starts its operation in July 2014 after the merger and acquisition (M&A) of the Slovak branch of the leading German energy group RWE. This is one of the first major investment M&A deals of Vietnam abroad in information technology.

The community promptly coordinated with the local authorities to send people on duty 24/24 at the border to welcome and help people fleeing from Ukraine to Slovakia.

FPT Slovakia currently has 390 employees, of which 370 are working in Slovakia, 20 are working in the Czech Republic. They specialize in providing information technology services to leading enterprises in many industries in Germany, UK, France, Czech Republic, Slovakia and other European countries.

Vietnam willing to join humanitarian efforts for Ukraine

Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN), has affirmed that Vietnam supports and is always willing to contribute to the UN's humanitarian relief for Ukraine within its capacity and conditions.

Addressing the UN General Assembly’s 11th emergency special session on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, Giang reasserted Vietnam’s consistent stance on solving international disputes by peaceful measures on the basis of respecting international law, the UN Charter, and the principle of honoring independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries, not interfering into their internal affairs and not using force in international relations, cited VNA.

Sharing the international community's deep concern about the humanitarian situation caused by the war in Ukraine, the Vietnamese diplomat emphasized that the current urgent priority should be given to stopping the war, protecting civilians and essential civilian infrastructure, deploying humanitarian operations, and evacuating citizens.
