Thai Thu Hong, spouse of the Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan, opened the event by highlighting the Vietnamese Embassy's decision to host it as part of the Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Association (ALFS)'s ongoing activities to foster cultural understanding among nations. She emphasized that the event aimed to introduce the beauty of Vietnam’s traditional culture to friends from Japan and around the world.
She thanked the ALFS for its dedication to fostering connections and nurturing understanding and friendship through cultural exchanges.
The event featured performances that showcased Vietnamese cultural identity, including rituals of the Worship of Mother Goddesses—a folk belief listed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity—traditional musical instruments, and a puppet show by artists from the Vietnam Puppetry Theatre.
Attendees had the opportunity to try Vietnamese musical instruments and join the artists in dances.
As part of their tour in Japan, the Vietnam National Puppetry Theater troupe also performed on December 10 at the Ikebana International Fair 2024. This event, co-organized by the embassies of Vietnam and other countries, aimed to raise funds to support disadvantaged people in Japan.
