Vietnamese doctors provide free medical treatment for poor Cambodians
From September 10th-12th, Cho Ray – Phnom Penh hospital is working with Samdec Techo young voluntary doctors’ association and Chabar Ampov district authorities in Phnom Penh capital to give free healthcare to 500 poor Cambodian patients, raising the number of patients benefiting from charitable medical check-ups since early September to over 1,000.

Vietnam News Agency quoted Cho Ray – Phnom Penh General Director Nguyen Hoang Nam saying that after one year of operation, doctors of the hospital had provided medical check-ups and treatment for over 100,000 patients and successfully carried out 800 surgeries, including hi-tech surgeries.
He added that the hospital has actively joined social welfare activities in Cambodia such as a free health-care program benefiting poor patients and reduction of medical fees for some other groups of poor patients.
During the event, Vice Chairman of Chbar Ampov district, Ms Ek Yanny, thanked the hospital staff for conducting social activities in the district, and highlighted the talent and kind-heartedness of Vietnamese doctors.
According to Ms Ek Yanny, the charitable activities have contributed to reinforcing and developing the good relationship between Cambodia and Vietnam.
Cho Ray – Phnom Penh hospital, built with a capital of USD38 million for the first phase, started its operation in January, 2014. It is considered a key construction highlighting the cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia in developing modern medical foundation to serve Cambodians./.
