Vietnamese film honoured at San Francisco Int’l New Concept Film Festival 2016
(VNF) - “Huong Ga” (Rise) has been honoured as Best Vietnamese Film at the San Francisco International New Concept Film Festival 2016 that took place on October 7th-9th.

The movie about a gangster woman named Dieu in the early 2000s marks the success of actress Truong Ngoc Anh who is the main character and producer of the film.
The international film festival was a new ideal for film-makers in the world to honour some original scenarios and new opinions for cinema. The film festival has been approved by the United States government and held three times in San Francisco including best film, best documentary film, short film award, cartoon film and MTV award. It is for filmmakers all over the world and encourages young and first-time filmmakers to show their new productions.
The award at the festival was a pride of a director Cuong Ngo and Vietnam’s cinema and encouraged the film makers to introduce Vietnamese cinema to the international friends.
This year’s event attracted nearly 100 films to compete at different categories like Best Picture Award, Best Documentary Award, Best Short Native Film Award, Best Short Documentary Award, Best Commercial Award, Best MTV Award and Best Director Award. The film “Heart with the sun”, directed by Haotian Lu, won the highest award at the event.

Earlier, Cuong Ngo’s film “Huong Ga” won the Best Feature Southeast Asia Panorama award at the Festival of Globe Awards 2015 held in California, the US, from August 7th to 16th. Actress Truong Ngoc Anh won an Excellent Achievement Award at the festival for her role.
The movie was honored with Silver Kit Prizes and got “best director”, “best actress” titles at the 2014 Golden Kite Awards in the country./.
