Vietnamese in Mozambique holds football tournament to mark August Revolution
(VNF) - The Vietnamese embassy and the Vietnamese association in Mozambique on August 19 and 20 organized a friendly football tournament in Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique. The activity was held on ocassion of the 72nd August Revolution and Independence Day anniversary.

Four teams participated in the tournament were Movitel (joint venture between Viettel telecom group and Mozambique’s investment company SPI), Vietnamese enterprises & Vietnamese community, Higher Defence Studies Institute of Mozambique (ISEDEF) students and Maputo city police.
Many Vietnamese people living in Maputo, Movitel's staff and people who loved Vietnam from different countries attended the inauguration ceremony, showing their supports to the four football teams.
The event was the third of its kind in Mozambique, aiming to strengthen friendship, solidarity between people of the two countries, as well as promoting sports exchange, reinforce connection, ensuring a united, strong Vietnamese community which integrates well in the host country.

At the moment, there are nearly 300 Vietnamese working and living in Mozambique. The majority of them are staff of Movitel joint venture, while the others are entrepreneurs and some independent workers.
Since the beginning of 2017, when armed conflict in certain localities temporarily ceased, opening a prospect of peace in Mozambique, more and more Vietnamese are showing interest in the market of the African country. They have sent staff there to survey, make business plan, contributing to the increased number of Vietnamese there.
As the Vietnamese community in Mozambique is getting bigger, bonding activities like this football tournament is expected to serve as significant platform for stronger understanding, care and supports mong people./.
