Vietnamese, Korean Youths Join Cultural Exchange in Hanoi

From July 10-12, in Hanoi, many cultural and art exchange activities for young people from Vietnam and South Korea were held by Nguyen Trai University (Hanoi) in cooperation with Kunjang Univeristy College (South Korea).

Hundreds people joined the "Korea - Vietnam Cultural and Art Exchange (KJU & NTU)" on July 12, proving the love for Korean culture among Hanoian students.

The program was organized by Nguyen Trai University (Hanoi) and Kunjang University College (South Korea), with special guest from both countries such as Former Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Education and Training, former Secretary General of the Council of State Professors Tran Van Nhung and Director of the Korean Overseas Education Department in Vietnam Won Kwang Seog.

In her remarks, President of Nguyen Trai University Council Vu Thi Kim Oanh stressed that the event is not only a cultural exchange between university students and high-schoolers of the two countries, but also to promote the beauty of Vietnam's cultures to the Korean friends. Meanwhile, President of Kunjang University College Kye-Cheul Lee claimed the event showed the power of the cultural connection between the two countries in general and between Kunjang University College and Nguyen Trai University in particular.

Both sides believe that this opportunity will help the young generation understand more about each other's cultures such as traditional food, music, attires and performing arts.

The event also hosted a singing and dancing performance contest for more than 30 teams and individuals from Nguyen Trai University and high schools in Hanoi.

According to the judges, all contestants were not only talented but also captivating with a diverse and interesting range of performances that combine the cultures of both Vietnam and South Korea. There were a total of 12 awards, including three Third prizes, two Second prizes and one First prize in the category of K-V Song Singing, and three Third prizes, two Second prizes and one First prize in K-VPOP Dancing category.

The organizing committee also announced the results of the "K-Speech" contest, which was held the day before at Nguyen Trai University. Many Vietnamese students complete for the best Korean speaker, not only show their fluency but also introduce about Vietnam to Korean people. Student Pham Thi Thu Ha is from the Department of Korean Studies (Nguyen Trai University) won the 1st Prize.

"My impression of Vietnamese people is that they were friendly and welcoming. At the speech contest, the contestants showed their proficiency and interest for Korean culture. I am also amazed by the quality of the singing and dancing performances. I was very surprised by the talent of young Vietnamese people," said one of judge from Kunjang University College.

Within the framework of the exchange program, for July 10-12, a delegation including leaders, instructers and students from Kunjang University College learned about Vietnamese culture at Nguyen Trai University. On the other hand, the guests introduced about the characteristics of Korean cultures at the program, including traditional Hanbok costumes, tokbokki rice cakes, and K-POP music.

The host unversity, including the three departments of Korean Studies, Development Communication and Tourism gave presentation about traditional costumes and cuisine of Vietnamese ethnic groups to the foreign friends. The Vietnamese and Korean students also learned bilingual communication lessons. Also, the Korean delegation learned about traditional craft villages and to make their own versions of the toys he from the instruction of local artisans.

With the success of this event, Nguyen Trai University and Korea's Kunjang University agreed to continue bridging young people of the two countries, to contribute to strengthen the people-to-people ties between Vietnam and Korea.
