Vietnamese language class opens in Algeria
A Vietnamese language class opened at the Embassy of Vietnam in Algeria’s capital city of Algiers on May 12, meeting the demand to learn the language and explore Vietnamese culture of students in Algiers and neighboring localities.
The language class, taught by staff members of the embassy, attracts about 30 learners aged 10-50, including members from one family.
In his opening remark, Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Pham Quoc Tru said the class aims to help children of overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in Algeria and students learning Vietnamese martial arts in the country speak the language and understand more about Vietnamese culture, spirit and martial arts.

He also voiced his hope that the class will strengthen the bond between the Vietnamese community and Algerian people who love Vietnam.
Moluk, Vice President of the Vietnamese traditional martial arts Son Long Quyen Thuat league in Algeria, also a student of the class, said the Vietnamese language and traditional martial arts will bring people of Vietnam and Algeria closer.
A student of the class, Serine Rahile, 20, is attending the class along with her two siblings. They are among the third generation of OVs in Algeria and currently living in Boufarik province, more than 30km away from Algiers.
Rahile expressed her hope that thanks to the class, she will be able to speak the language to her relatives in Vietnam and Vietnamese people in Algeria./.
