Female fighter Huynh Ha Huu Hieu defeated Pornthip Khamthongphanow of Thailand, to win the WBC Muay International Championship in the women's minimum-weight class.

The matches for the WBC Muay International Title took place on July 16 in Ho Chi Minh City, is also the first WBC title event held in Vietnam.

Hieu is one of Vietnam's top female athletes in Muay Thai. She has taken part in many international events and won world amateur titles and pro fights sush gold medals at 2013 Muay Thai Youth World Championships, 2019 & 2021 IFMA World Muaythai Championships, 2022 World Muay Thai Grand Slam, ans is the SEA Games 32 champion.

Meanwhile, Khamthongphanow is a young but talented fighter of Thailand who is famous for her strong kicks and has taken part in many pro bouts since she was 19.

Hieu defeated her Thai opponent by a technical knock-out. The referee did not count the prescribed number of counts, Pornthip was still able to get up, but the referee said that Pornthip was not strong enough to continue the fight.

Winning Pornthip Khamthongphanow, Huynh Ha Huu Hieu won the minimum-weight title.

Earning the WBC Muay Thai International minimum-weight belt, Hieu is facing the opportunity to participate in the world title match with American opponent Sylvie von Dugglas-Ittu. This is also her first professional championship title in the Muay Thai arena.

Hieu's fight is one of two main cards at the WBC International Title event. The other is between Truong Cao Minh Phat of Vietnam, the world No 15, and Hicham Boulahri of Morocco, No 17 in the men's super featherweight.

Phat also overcame Hicham Boulahri by also winning by knockout in the third round and won the WBC Muay international super featherweight title.

As for Truong Cao Minh Phat, he was not inferior to his compatriot, when he overcame Hicham Boulahri by also winning by knockout in the third round. Truong Cao Minh Phat won the WBC Muay international super featherweight title.

The first Muay Thai Rampage will have 12 bouts. Prior to the two main cards, there are three WBC National Title fights and seven others in the prelims for local athletes. As a result, Vietnamese Huynh Hoang Phi won the title in super bantamweight (under 55kg), Tran Quoc Tuan won the title in welterweight (71-77kg) and Dang Quynh Bich won the lightweight category (57-60kg).

The WBC Muay Thai International belt allows its holder to take part in the world title bout of their weight classes.
