Russia's TASS news agency published an article on its homepage detailing the biography of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, particularly emphasizing his role in the Communist Party of Vietnam's anti-corruption efforts.

TASS noted that in addition to prestigious medals and awards from Vietnam, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received many awards from international friends, including the Order of Jose Marti, one of the three highest orders of the Cuban State, in 2012, and China’s Friendship Order in 2022.
Quoting Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus Today noted the diplomat's many successes; "The development of Vietnam is closely linked to the style of this outstanding politician. The efforts of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in reforming the Party, consolidating its role, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese workers are widely known around the world."
The Guardian mentioned the "bamboo diplomacy" approach of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong which is both flexible and resilient. In 2015, he became the first leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam to officially visit the US and meet with President Barack Obama. This visit was considered a historic event, laying the foundation for Vietnam and the US to upgrade to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023.
Reuters published an article highlighting the leadership role of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong over the past decade, during which Vietnam achieved rapid economic growth and upgraded relations with many countries worldwide.
The US news agency AP described General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong as the person who launched the campaign against corruption and negative phenomena.
AP quoted UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres as saying that he was saddened by the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and emphasized that the General Secretary played a key role in modern Vietnamese history. Under his leadership, Vietnam continued its strong development path, becoming one of the world's fastest-growing economies and an important partner of the United Nations.
Highly appreciating the contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, The Washington Post wrote: His anti-corruption efforts have domestically rekindled public trust in the Communist Party and the Party's management of Vietnam's economy, one of the most dynamic in the region with burgeoning startup culture sectors. The newspaper also mentioned his 2015 visit to the US, particularly his speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington.
According to the Financial Times, in his roles as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (since 2011) and State President (2018-2021 term), Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong played a central role in Vietnam's economic development. In particular, Vietnam has attracted billions of dollars in investment from foreign companies and become an important link in the global supply chain.
Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) aired an in-depth segment highlighting General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's contributions to building, protecting, and developing Vietnam, as well as his significant contributions to diplomatic relations with various countries, including Japan.
NHK emphasized that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong maintained an open, diversified, and multilateral external policy, expressing a desire to become a reliable friend and partner with all countries and territories worldwide. The Party’s chief strengthened the relations between Vietnam and the US, Russia, and China, and led a multilateral diplomatic approach in an increasingly polarized international community.
Regarding relations with Japan, the segment recalled his 2015 meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, during which the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation.
The Nikkei Economic Times of Japan emphasized the immense contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to Vietnam's economic development, highlighting policies related to Vietnam signing Free Trade Agreements with many countries.
