A shot of a boat floating on a lotus pond in the northern province of Phu Tho scored an honorable mention at the 2021 Nature Conservancy Photo Contest.

Taken by Vu Manh Cuong in the water category, the photo depicts a woman rowing her boat amid green lotus leaves on a pond in Dong Lam commune in Ha Hoa district.

The photographer, a native of the northern province of Vinh Phuc, has won many international prizes, such as the 2018 International Monochrome Photography Awards and the 2019 Orhan Holding International Contest.

"“Van Nui 5” by Vu Manh Cuong won gold prize at the Shadow 4th International Salon 2021 in India.

Earlier, Cuong was awarded the gold prize at the Shadow 4th International Salon 2021 in India, for his photo “Van Nui 5.”

The photo, featuring the beauty of Vietnamese terraced fields, claimed the FIP Gold in the competition’s travel category.

The 2021 Nature Conservancy Photo Contest is sponsored by the Nature Conservancy - a global environmental non-profit working to create a world where people and nature can thrive.

Founded in the US through grassroots action in 1951, the Nature Conservancy has grown to become one of the most effective and wide-reaching environmental organizations in the world. Thanks to more than a million members and the dedicated efforts of its diverse staff and over 400 scientists, the organisation impacts conservation in 72 countries and territories, including 38 by direct conservation impact and 34 through partners.

The Nature Conservancy's photo contest returned in 2021 after a one-year pause due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The competition grand prize was awarded to Anup Shah from the UK for his photograph of a female western lowland gorilla walking through a cloud of butterflies.

This year’s contest received entries from a record-breaking 158 countries in four categories: Landscape, People and Nature, Water, and Wildlife./.
