A photo contest entitled “Proud of the frontier strip” has been launched aiming to promote the nation’s frontier beauty and achievements in building national land borders.

The biennial event, third of its edition, is jointly held by the Party Central Committee (PPC)’s Commission for Communications and Education; PCC’s Commission for External Relations; Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism; Ministry of Public Security; General Political Department of the People's Army of Vietnam; Border Guard Command; and the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA).

Photo Contest Launched to Honor Vietnam's Frontier Building

The photo contest aims to introduce the beauty of the homeland, the country, and the people in border areas on the mainland, truly and vividly reflects the lives, activities, and labor of Vietnamese people, in border localities, especially where many ethnic minorities live. At the same time, recognize and honor the contributions and sacrifices of generations of Vietnamese people and the armed forces to protect the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Fatherland.

Through two editions, the photo contest attracted many entries with works recording activities demonstrating the achievements of innovation and international integration in the process of construction and protection of the Fatherland in our country's border areas, the beauty of the natural landscape stretching across Vietnam's land borders, exchanges, and cooperation in all fields of border provinces; along with activities to develop tourism potential in the border provinces with China, Laos, and Cambodia.

In 2022, the second contest received nearly 10,000 entries, including 5,765 single photos and 503 photo collections, by around 1,000 contestants nationwide. Two gold prizes were awarded to a photo collection on the Vietnam – Cambodia Border Defence Friendship Exchange by Nguyen Van Hoang, and a picture on the water festival of Khmer ethnic people in the Southern region by Nguyen Hoang Nam.

Eligible applicants of the photo contest 2024 include both professional and non-professional photographers who are Vietnamese citizens or overseas Vietnamese, as well as foreigners working and living in Vietnam, aged at least 15 years old.

The contest is open to entries at www.anhnghethuatbiengioi2024.com from April 16 until August 15, 2024.

The organizing board will present 22 awards, including two gold, four silver, six bronze, and 10 consolidation prizes for outstanding works. Each award will receive a corresponding medal, a certificate from the VAPA, along with a cash prize.
