Vietnamese students won 11 gold medals at the 12nd International Mathematic Contest (IMC) held in Singapore.

(VNF) - Vietnamese students won 11 gold medals at the 12nd International Mathematic Contest (IMC) held in Singapore.

Vietnam’s 119-member team brought home a total of 83 medals, consisted of a Grand Champion award, 11 gold, 24 silver, 47 bronze medals and 37 consolation prizes. The team had arrived in Hanoi on Monday, August 1st.

Nguyen Minh Duc, an eighth grader, from Nhan Chinh Secondary School, was one of contestants who achieve the highest scores with a score of 95/100. Besides a gold medal, he also received the Grand Champion award.

The IMC union organizes the International Mathematics Contest (IMC) in Singapore every year since 2005.

After more than ten years of running the contest, IMC International Mathematics Contest has become one of the largest and most influential platforms for students to exchange their views on Math studying Asia-Pacific region.

The contest was supported and participated by nearly one hundred education institutions and schools, including: Singapore Tourism Board (STB) - Education Services Division, National University Singapore (NUS) High School of Mathematics and Science, Jetwings Institution, and ISS International School of Singapore, etc.

Last year, Vietnam, though first year participating, had won 38 medals (six gold), and overall champion for Junior One./.
