Vietnamese Ambassador to Turkey Do Son Hai recently attended the opening ceremony of an exhibition of paintings by Vietnamese and Turkish students on the topic "Sharing the pain of the February 6 earthquake" in Ankara

The exhibition includes 29 paintings, 35 letters by students of Vietnam's Lomonoxop High School, and 33 paintings by students of Ertugrul Gazi Anatolian High School of Turkey.

Each picture of Vietnamese students along with letters and words of encouragement to their Turkish friends more than 7,000 km away, sends their best wishes and wishes that the sufferings of the earthquake would soon pass and smiles will return to the children in the land affected by the disaster.

The exhibition also displays paintings of students from Ertugrul Gazi Anatolian High School expressing their gratitude to international friends and rescue teams who have come to Turkey to help the people of this country.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Do Son Hai said that the two countries have had good relations over the years. In particular, 2023 marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Turkey(1978-2023).

The Ambassador hoped that the support and affection of Vietnam, including the paintings of Vietnamese students, would convey a warm message, helping the Turkish people soon overcome the loss of the earthquake. at the same time, contributing to strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

In response to the Ambassador, the Rector of Ertugrul Gazi Anatolian School sincerely thanked the support from the Government, the people of Vietnam, and the people of Turkey, looking forward to cooperation between the two countries.

Statistics show that the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck southeastern Turkey and neighbouring Syria on February 6 was one of the strongest in the region over the past century, killing more than 50,000 people and destroying thousands of houses. It has caused economic losses worth some tens of billion of US dollars.

The 76-strong search and rescue team of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), along with 35 tonnes of cargo, departed for Turkey on February 12 night to assist the country in recovery efforts following the devastating earthquake.

Meanwhile, the 24-member team of the Ministry of Public Security engaged in search and rescue efforts in the Turkish southeastern city of Adiyaman after they arrived in the country on February 10. The group returned home on February 19 after outstandingly fulfilling their tasks.
