On the first day of the tournament on October 8, Khong My Phuong (45 kg woman) competed with Tran Thi My Dung (49 kg woman).

In the 45kg category, there were a total of 7 athletes and competitors from the Philippines, Indonesia, Chinese Taipei, India, and Saudi Arabia. They are all very determined to bring about the highest achievement.

In this weight class, My Phuong achieved a push of 78kg, a jerk of 88kg, and a total weight of 166kg, thereby ranking first with the gold medal in the jerk category and overall score. In addition, her 88kg achievement also helped My Phuong win another silver medal.

The training board of the Vietnamese team said that the achievement could have been higher, but due to a miscalculation, both My Dung and My Phuong could not win more medals. My Dung lifted 80kg in the recoil category but failed to push, so there were no general results in this category. However, the achievement of 80kg was enough to help her get 1 silver medal in this weight class. Overall, the 2 gold medals right at the start of the competition are a good sign for the Vietnamese weightlifting team in Bahrain this year.

At the 31st SEA Games, Khong My Phuong participated in the competition and she won silver in the women's 45kg category with a total weight of 172kg (80kg in jerk, 92kg in push).

Pham Thi Hong Thanh excellently won all three gold medals in the women's 64 kg weight class at the Asian weightlifting championship on the evening of October 11 in Bahrain.

Hong Thanh is more confident this year because her opponents Chontavin Thipwara (Thailand) and Sarah Sarah (Indonesia), who have competed in Southeast Asia competition, are absent.

The fact that strong Chinese athletes are not attending this content helps Hong Thanh compete more comfortably. The athlete from Hai Duong completed the jerking competition with a record of 100 kg, more than Chontavin Thipwara with a silver medal with a record of 91 kg, and Sarah Sarah with a bronze medal with a record of 89 kg.

Athlete Lai Gia Thanh represented Vietnam to compete in the 55kg weight class. This athlete excelled in winning the overall Gold medal with a time of 262 kg, the Gold medal in the recoil competition with a time of 120kg, and the Silver medal in the push lift with a time of 142kg.

In addition to Hong Thanh, candidates such as Lai Gia Thanh, Khong My Phuong, Nguyen Tran Anh Tuan, and Quang Thi Tam are also competing in this competition to bring home more gold medals for the Vietnamese weightlifting team.
