Vietnamese Youth Shine at Australian Singing Contest

The final night of the MOVSA GALA 2023 competition took place at The Capitol stage on the campus of RMIT University in Melbourne (Australia).

The final of MOVSA GALA 2023, a singing contest of Vietnamese students in Australia-themed “Stardust Symphonia”, took place in Melbourne city of Australia on October 7.

After a successful season, of discovering many unique and explosive musical talents, MOVSA GALA 2023 is a professionally organized event, attracting the attention of the Vietnamese student community in Melbourne specifically and throughout Australia in general.

MOVSA GALA 2023 is divided into two rounds. The audition round with the competition of more than 50 quality and diverse music performances of Vietnamese international students studying at schools across Melbourne such as the University of Melbourne, RMIT University, Monash University, Deakin University, La Trobe University, and Swinburne University, among others.

The final round featured performances by 12 contestants from universities in Melbourne, which ranged from folk songs to pop ballads, rock, or rap songs.

The final night of MOVSA GALA 2023 was a fierce competition with excellent performances from all 12 contestants who passed the preliminary rounds. The unique performances, ranging from folk songs and folk songs to profound pop ballads, fiery rock scores, or extremely vibrant rap songs, were all highly praised by the jury for their expertise and performances.

Hosted by Melbourne Overseas Vietnamese Student Association (MOVSA), the annual event aims to create an artistic playground, connecting overseas Vietnamese students with a passion for singing and a desire to show off their talents.

As a result, Nguyen Hoang Bao Lan from the University of Melbourne won the MOVSA GALA 2023 Champion with the performance "Curve."

Bui Minh Phuong from La Trobe University won first runner-up with her self-composed rap song. Meanwhile, Ron Nguyen, a former student of the University of Melbourne, earned two runner-up prizes and was the most popular contestant.

Khanh Tran from Swinburne University won the award for most popular contestant on social networks with her emotional performance through the mashup of two Vietnamese songs "Lung Lo" and "Ben tren tang lau."

The gala left a strong impression on the contestants and more than 500 attendees. It has succeeded in connecting the Vietnamese student community in Melbourne city in particular and Australia in general, affirming that no matter where they are, Vietnamese people always look back to their roots, are always proud, and wish to contribute their small part to praising and promoting the culture and beautiful image of their homeland - Vietnam.

About 27,000 Vietnamese students are learning in Australia while 10,000 others are enrolling in Australian courses in Vietnam.
