The Vietnamese national flag was displayed on Namsan Tower and Seoul City Hall in Seoul, the Republic of Korea (RoK), from 7:30 pm to 11:00 pm on September 2 - Vietnam’s National Day.

This is the first time the Vietnamese national flag has been screened on Namsan Tower, said Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Nguyen Vu Tung, adding this is also the first time the Vietnamese Embassy has celebrated the National Day at such a historical and famous site in Seoul.

The event helps deepen the countries’ relationship in the context of their enhanced economic, political, cultural, and diplomatic cooperation, while bringing the image of Vietnam closer to Koreans and the Vietnamese community in the country, the diplomat stressed.

Namsan Seoul Tower was built in 1969 as the RoK's first integrated transmission tower beaming television and radio broadcasts across the capital. Since opening to the public in 1980, it has become a much-loved Seoul landmark. The tower's main attractions include multi-colored digital art projected onto the tower at night, a digital observatory, a roof terrace, the HanCook restaurant, and the n.Grill restaurant, and the Haneul (Sky) Restroom. Namsan Seoul Tower's mountain surroundings on Namsan Mountain have made it a popular place to unwind for locals and tourists alike.

Since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations in 1992, Vietnam and the RoK have upgraded their relationship twice, from a comprehensive partnership to a strategic cooperative partnership in 2009, and to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2022.

The RoK remains the largest foreign investor in Vietnam and the third biggest trade partner of the Southeast Asian nation. Its trade with Vietnam ranks first in ASEAN, accounting for 45-50% of the Northeast Asian nation’s total trade with the bloc.

Increasing people-to-people exchanges between the two nations are the basis for promoting economic, cultural, and educational cooperation, and relationships between their localities./.
