Vietnam’s two major hubs took joint second place among the best value destinations in the Lonely Planet’s recently released “Best in Travel 2016” list.

According to the travel giant, Vietnam’s cities are tops for budget options. “Both Ho Chi Minh city and Hanoi are in that most magical of price brackets for the budget traveler with USD20 per day or less for food, lodging and sights.”

“Finding these prices will take you firmly into the territory of living like a local, which is another vote in favour of making a super-cheap city trip at some point this year,” noted Lonely Planet.

The magazine’s 2016 list "highlights not the places travelers are headed to next year, but the places our team determined they should visit," says Tom Hall, Lonely Planet's editorial director.

Other rankings on the list are Estonia, East Africa, New Mexico, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Galicia (Spain), Quebec (Canada), Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast, Timor-Leste and Western Australia.

Together with the category, Lonely Planet also suggested the most attractive countries, cities and regions to travel in 2016./.
