Vietnam’s Vice President Speaks at 4th Eurasian Women's Forum

Vietnam’s Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan congratulated the opening of the 4th Eurasian Women's Forum on Sep. 18 via a video message. On September 18, in Saint Petersburg (the Russian Federation), the Opening Ceremony and plenary session of the 4th Eurasian Women's Forum took place with the theme "Women - For the Strengthening of Global Trust and Cooperation".

About 1,500 delegates from 126 countries and international organizations participated. Vice President of Vietnam Vo Thi Anh Xuan attended online and gave a recorded speech at the plenary session of the Forum.

At the plenary session, welcoming the participants and guests, Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that the active participation of women today is extremely important for the process of building a multipolar, just and truly free world. Everyone shares this view and is doing everything to shape a new, more progressive world space.

Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council (Senate) Valentina Matvienko emphasized that in the context of the current complex world geopolitical situation, women need to play a key role in shaping a more just and humane world order.

In her speech, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan highly appreciated the role and positive contributions of the Forum, considering it as a place to exchange and share opportunities, challenges, and solutions to improve the role of women in all areas of social life.

Xuan believes the event has sent a strong message about the role of women not only contributing to the development of their country, but also having a profound impact on peace and sustainable development of the region and the world.

Vietnam has achieved many achievements in socio-economic development and improved Vietnam's position in the international arena, including gender equality and women's empowerment, the role and status of Vietnamese women have been significantly enhanced in all areas of social life, she stressed.

The Vice President emphasized that women, as messengers of peace and charity, should be placed at the center and given more rights in efforts to promote dialogue, build trust, and strengthen cooperation to build a peaceful, happy and prosperous world together.

Vietnam is committed to continuing to support women's development, creating opportunities for women to access the positive trends of the times and further contribute to the noble goals set by the United Nations.

The 4th Eurasian Women's Forum is organized by the Council of the Russian Federation and the Inter-Parliamentary Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). It is the largest international platform, bringing together women leaders from all continents of the planet to discuss their role in the modern world and come up with common solutions to solve global problems.

The forum lasts until September 20 with a rich agenda, focusing on the topics of the role of women in the green agenda, the field of medicine and preserving cultural and traditional diversity.
