VUFO extends condolences over death of Vice President of Thailand – Vietnam Friendship Association

The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organization (VUFO) have sent condolences over the death of Mr. Prapansak Bhatayanond, Vice President of the Thailand – Vietnam Friendship Association.

Here is the condolence letter by VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga:


“We are deeply saddened by the demise of Mr. Prachuab Chaiyasan, an outstanding politician and diplomat of the Kingdom of Thailand and a great friend of Vietnam. On behalf of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and on my own behalf, I would like to extend to you and the Thailand – Viet Nam Friendship Association and through you, to Mrs. Taptim Chaiyasan and Mr. Prachuab Chaiyasan’s bereaved family, relatives and friends our heartfelt condolences. We grieve together with you and hope that Mrs. Mrs. Taptim Chaiyasan and all our Thai friends will gather enough strength to stand this unbearable pain of loss.

Mr. Prachuab Chaiyasan would always be remembered as one of the pioneers in building and fostering the friendship between Thailand and Viet Nam. We would never forget the important contributions he had made in his position as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand from 1996 to 1997 to the strengthening of the relations of friendship and multifaceted cooperation between our two countries. Under his wise leadership as the President of the Thailand - Vietnam Friendship Association since 2013, our people-to-people exchanges have recorded significant achievement. His vision, guidance, tireless activities and devotion have helped to bring our two peoples closer together for the common goal of peace and prosperity.

Mr. Prachuab Chaiyasan is no longer with us. But his legacy will live on. And he will always live in the hearts and minds of the Vietnamese people who had a chance to know him and worked with him.

May his noble soul rest in eternal peace

Mr. Ta Quang Ngoc, President of Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association also sent message of condolences over death of Mr. Prachuab Chaiyasan.

In the condolence message he worte:

"We are very saddened to hear of Mr. Prachuab Chaiyasan's passing away. We would like to express our sincere condolences to you and your family.

It was an honor to have known such a great person and we will truly miss him. Mr. Prachuab Chaiyasan had a special love for Vietnam. He has contributed to strengthen solidarity and relationship between Thailand and Vietnam, especially relations between the two Friendship Associations. All of his activities are expressions of his love for Vietnam. He is no more. But he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Please accept my deepest condolences for your family's loss. May his soul rest in peace.
