A delegation from Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) held a ceremony to offer incense and flowers to commemorate former leaders of the Party and State; former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, former head of the Central Committee for Foreign Affairs and former head of the Vietnam Peace Committee.

The VUFO delegation laid a wreath and spent a minute of silence in memory, expressing deep gratitude to the ancestors, the patriotic martyrs who sacrificed heroically for the cause of national liberation and reunification of the country.

The delegation offered incense at the graves of predecessors and martyrs of the Vietnamese diplomatic service.

VUFO upholds the tradition of “when drinking water, remembering its source”.

VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga; VUFO Vice President - General Secretary Phan Anh Son lit incense in memory of revolutionary predecessors, heroes and martyrs at Mai Dich Cemetery.

High-ranking officials have been buried at Mai Dich Cemetery in the capital's Cau Giay District since 1982. It is the final resting place for more than 1,200 war martyrs and around 400 leaders, including Le Duan, the country’s Party chief during the Vietnam War, Ton Duc Thang, the first president of the reunified Vietnam, and his Prime Minister Pham Van Dong.

Famed authors Nguyen Dinh Thi and Huy Can are also buried at the 5.9-hectare cemetery.
