On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Brunei Darussalam (February 29, 1992 - February 29, 2022), President of Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Nguyen Phuong Nga sent a congratulation letter to the Ambassador of Brunei to Vietnam Pengiran Haji Sahari P.G Haji Salleh on February 25.

On behalf of VUFO, president Nguyen Phuong Nga sent her warmest congratulations and best wishes to the Brunei ambassador and Brunei friends.

Over the past 30 years, the relations between Vietnam and Brunei Darussalam have recorded significant achievements in various fields, including people-to-people exchange.

Vietnam and Brunei also share common views, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world. Vietnam and Brunei continue to support each other at multilateral forums and international organizations, as well as contribute to creating a common voice on the issue of solidarity and maintaining ASEAN's central role in regional issues.

With a strong belief in the bright future of the two countries and their bilateral relations, ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga confirmed that VUFO works closely with the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Vietnam to strengthen the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Brunei and the close friendship between the two peoples.

Vietnam and Brunei established diplomatic relations in 1992. The two countries' friendship has seen new developments in recent years, especially since the two upgraded their relations into the Comprehensive Partnership during the state visit to Vietnam of the Sultan of Brunei in March 2019. Since then, the Vietnam-Brunei Comprehensive Partnership has developed on the main pillars of politics-security, trade-investment, and people-to-people diplomacy.

In terms of politics, high-level political exchanges between the two countries are maintained regularly.

Regarding economic cooperation, the two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Brunei reach over USD 250 million in 2020 and 2021. As of January 2022, Brunei ranked 25th out of 140 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.

As for people-to-people diplomacy and citizen protection, the Brunei government has supported the Vietnamese people in Brunei during the pandemic.
