Vietnam’s weather forecast

Rainfall is forecast to increase across Vietnam in July, especially during the last ten days of the month.

July 5

Showers are in the forecast throughout Vietnam on July 5, particularly in the northern mountainous region that is expected to be hit by heavy rains, whirlwinds, lightning and strong winds.

According to the Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the lowest temperature in Hanoi will range from 26-29C while the highest temperature from 32-35C.

From Da Nang city to Binh Thuan province, the lowest temperature is 25-28C, and the highest temperature, 33-36C, even mounting to 36C.

The southern region will experience daytime temperature from 25-32C, the highest in 13 hours. Thunderstorms are forecast for July 5 night, with temperature from 27-28C.

July 6-8

Hanoi and localities from Da Nang to Binh Thuan province will experience daytime of hot weather, and showers and thunderstorms evening and night, the Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said. Meanwhile, in the southern region, there are showers and thunderstorms.

July 9-14

Similar weather patterns are forecast for the above-said localities from July 9-14, the centre said.

Rainfall is forecast to increase across Vietnam in July, especially during the last ten days of the month.

Chances of rain and thunderstorms will increase in northern and central provinces this month, while seasonal downpours in the Central Highlands and southern Vietnam will also intensify, according to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

Medium to heavy rain is expected to dampen northern localities between July 2 and 4, accompanied by cyclones, lightning, and gusts, as well as flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous localities.

In Hanoi, showers are in the forecast throughout the day.

Rainfall will decrease in the region on July 5 and 6, though temperatures will surge.

Authorities are on the watch for forest fires they believe might crop up as a result of the extreme heat.

From July 11 to 20, rainfall in most regions of Vietnam will be 15 to 25 percent lower than the average amount recorded in previous years.

However, rain throughout the country will be 15 to 25 percent higher than previous years between July 21 and 31.

A tropical depression is also likely to form in the East Vietnam Sea in late July and may strengthen into a storm, resulting in bad weather in the mainland.

Forecasts showed China has entered the main flood season with more extreme weather and heavier precipitation to be expected.

Stronger typhoons and severe floods are expected to hit the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, Taihu Lake, the second Songhua River and Liaohe River.

The upper reaches of the Yellow River are also likely to face floods, the forecasts said.
