Wives of Foreign Diplomats Gather to Celebrate International Women's Day in Vietnam

On the occasion of International Women's Day (March 8), the spouse of the Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Tran Thi Bich Van held an exchange named“Beauty and Elegance: The Power of Women”.

The event was held in both virtual and in-person forms between Hanoi and Washington DC. Nearly 40 guests attended, including wives of ambassadors of other countries to Vietnam such as Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Israel, and female officials in the Vietnamese embassy and other representative agencies in Washington DC.

Tran Thi Bich Van shared her joy of organizing an intimate exchange between sisters in both Hanoi and Washington DC amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Given that women in modern society have an increasingly important role in the family and society, Tran Thi Bich Van wishes they can maintain a balanced lifestyle, have time and space to take care of themselves to overcome hardship, and keep their positive energy. Only when women are happy can they contribute to their families and society.

Bich Van expressed her joyfulness to be supported by talented female staff in Washington DC. She hoped similar events could be regularly held for women to gain knowledge and experience from each other.

At the event, fashion designer Cao Minh Tien, a lecturer at the University of Industrial Arts, demonstrated how to shine in their outfits and makeup when attending different kinds of events and activities and how to use silk scarves with Vietnamese traditional ao dai.

From Hanoi, the wives of the ambassadors of ASEAN countries and India to Vietnam were introduced to Ao Dai - the national dress of Vietnamese women. They were instructed to choose appropriate silk scarves to pair with their ao dai to express their personalities.

At the end of the event, the guests thanked Van for her initiative. They looked forward to attending other similar events.
