10th Vietnam-Singapore Navy Working Group Meeting Held

On November 27, the 10th Vietnam - Singapore Navy Working Group Meeting took place in Hai Phong. Rear Admiral Nguyen Viet Khanh, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People's Navy and Colonel Herbert Pang, Deputy Director of the Department of Naval Operations of the Republic of Singapore chaired the meeting.

In his opening speech, Rear Admiral Nguyen Viet Khanh highlighted the continuous development and positive outcomes of the cooperative relationship between the two navies. The navies have successfully coordinated bilateral and multilateral cooperation activities, achieving many substantive results. They have maintained an effective mechanism for sharing non-military maritime information by assigning liaison officers to the Singapore Navy's Maritime Security Information Sharing Center (IFC), contributing to maritime security and safety, enhancing mutual trust and understanding, and strengthening the friendly relationship and cooperation between the two armies and navies.

Colonel Herbert Pang expressed his pleasure that the cooperation between the two navies has been maintained and promoted, and hoped that in this 10th Meeting of the Vietnam-Singapore Navy Working Group, they will continue to find more cooperation opportunities to deepen their relationship. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the regional maritime security situation in 2024, assessed the results of cooperation since the 9th Meeting in March 2023, and discussed future cooperation directions.

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the regional maritime security situation in 2024, assessed the results of implementing cooperation contents since the 9th Meeting of the Vietnam - Singapore Navy Working Group (March 2023), as well as discussed the direction of cooperation in the coming time.

In 2025, both navies plan to continue delegation exchanges at all levels, organize mutual ship visits combined with joint exercises on formation movement, communication, search and rescue, and CUES practice, hold the 11th meeting of the joint working group, share non-military maritime information, and explore cooperation between the IFC Center (Singapore) and Saigon Newport Corporation. The Singapore Navy will also support the Vietnam Navy in training on command and staff, international relations, English, and long-distance sea training. These efforts aim to further enhance the cooperation and mutual benefits between the two navies.
