The activity marks the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam Trade Union's establishment, aiming to enhance the physical exercise and sports movement and to enrich the cultural and spiritual lives of workers, civil servants, and laborers, and the society at large. The Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament 2024 is jointly organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Tuoi Tre Newspaper.
The Organizing Committee has announced that the tournament will consist of two rounds. The qualifying round is scheduled from September to October 2024 across four regions: Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Nghe An, and Bac Ninh. The top 16 teams from the qualifiers will advance to the National Finals, which are set to occur in November 2024 in Hanoi.

During the Opening Ceremony, the Organizing Committee conducted ceremonies to officially inaugurate the tournament, beginning with the Regional Qualifiers 4 - Ho Chi Minh City.
The Regional Qualifiers 4 - Ho Chi Minh City featured 16 teams, including provincial federation teams like Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union 1 and 2, Ben Tre Trade Union, and Dong Nai Trade Union 1 to 4. Soc Trang Trade Union, Textile and Garment Trade Union, An Giang Trade Union, Dong Thap Trade Union, and Ca Mau Trade Union also participated. Corporate teams such as Long An International Port, Coteccons, Rong Viet Securities, and Biti's joined the event as well.
The Organizing Committee has announced that the 16 teams will be split into four groups: A, B, C, and D. They will compete in a round-robin format to earn ranking points. The top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the Quarterfinals, followed by the Semifinals and Finals, as per the tournament structure. The four teams that reach the Semifinals will qualify for the National Finals.

The 2024 Vietnam Football Championship for Workers and Civil Servants offers a total prize pool of 130 million VND in the qualifying round for Region 4 (Ho Chi Minh City). The Regional Qualifying Round Champion will be awarded 50 million VND, the runner-up will receive 30 million VND, and the third-place team will get 20 million VND. Additionally, the Regional Qualifying Round includes several secondary prizes: Best Player, Top Scorer, Best Goalkeeper, Most Fair Play Team, Most Impressive Cheer Team, and Best Referee Team, each valued at 5 million VND.
Besides organizing football matches, the Organizing Committee also offers supportive activities, including free examinations and consultations on sports medicine and musculoskeletal disorders, along with distributing prescribed medications; conducting daily lucky draws; providing discount booths; and recycling old clothes. These initiatives aim to enrich the cultural and spiritual lives of workers and draw more spectators to the stadium for watching and cheering.
During this event, the Organizing Committee presented 2.1 billion VND to aid workers and laborers in the northern provinces who are struggling due to the effects of storm number 3. This sum was contributed by the readers of Tuoi Tre newspaper and the entities associated with the tournament.
