What activities does the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor have to support workers on Tet 2024?

In 2023, our country continued to face many difficulties and challenges.

The Covid-19 pandemic is still complicated, with fierce strategic competition between major countries and conflict between Russia and Ukraine, disruption of the global supply chain, and anti-inflation policies of developed countries.

The scale of our country's economy is still modest, with high openness and limited tolerance to shocks from both inside and outside.

However, with the correct, flexible and timely decisions of the Party and State, and the participation of the entire political system, our country's political, economic and social situation continues to stabilize, recover, develop and achieve many important results.

In that result, there was a significant contribution from workers, and the Vietnam Trade Union.

On the occasion of the Year of the Dragon 2024, the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor soon deployed and drastically directed trade unions at all levels to organize activities to take care of union members and workers, especially workers in difficult circumstances, with practical and meaningful activities.

Party and State leaders visited and gave gifts to workers in difficult circumstances in 63 provinces and cities, provided financial support and organized free trips to take union members and workers back to their hometowns to celebrate Tet.

What are the new, practical activities to take care of union members and workers, including the online Trade Union Tet Market 2024?

On the occasion of the nation's traditional Tet, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor wishes to give meaningful Tet gifts to workers.

To ensure that the gift is suitable and brings joy to union members, instead of giving gifts in cash or having the Trade Union buy or give gifts to members, for the first time the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor organized an online Tet Market 2024 through e-commerce trading floors.

This program allows 201,000 union members to receive gifts, they can choose and buy products on all legal e-commerce platforms in Vietnam.

In addition, to promote social resources, we agreed with the two most popular platforms today, Shopee and Tiki, to open Tet Market on these platforms.

We offer additional incentives such as reduced sales prices of up to 50%, promotional codes to deduct money when paying from VND40,000-50,000 (US$1.64-2.06)/order, shipping fee exemption from VND15,000-300,000 (US$0.62-12.33)/order.

Many units had 100% of union members purchase goods. They expressed satisfaction with the online Trade Union Tet Market 2024.

They evaluate this as a modern, convenient method, suitable to the needs and conditions of union members and workers. By the end of January 24, more than 41,000 people received support money, of which nearly 38,000 people completed purchases.

However, there are still some union members who do not have smartphones, do not have the habit of online shopping, and want to use cash.

They are afraid to carry out card opening procedures and online payments.

Therefore, with the desire to make shopping easier for union members, the General Confederation of Labor and its partners made some adjustments related to the implementation of the online Trade Union Tet Market.

This is a new activity, carried out along with methods that have been implemented for many years. That is giving gifts and cash directly or transferring directly to the personal accounts of union members and workers.
