22nd Assembly of the World Peace Council to be held in Vietnam from Nov 21-27, 2022

With the approval of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, VUFO will coordinate with the VPC and the Executive Committee of the WPC to hold the 22nd Assembly in Hanoi and Quang Ninh. Taking place from November 21-27, 2022, the Assembly will welcome 200 participants, including about 100 international delegates from 49 countries belonging to nearly 60 member organizations of the WPC and 100 Vietnamese delegates.
According to Phan Anh Son, the preparation for the assembly has so far been relatively thorough. The 22nd assembly, the first to be held in Vietnam, aims to implement the XIII Party Congress’s foreign policy, Directive No. 25-CT/TW dated August 8, 2018 issued by the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee on promoting and elevating multilateral foreign relations to 2030 and Directive No. 12-CT/TW dated January 5, 2022 issued by the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee on strengthening the leadership of the Party, improving the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation, actively contributing to Council’s activities in particular and the world peace movement in general.

The assembly contributes to enhancing the role and position of Vietnam, particularly VUFO and VPC the world peace movement, demonstrating that Vietnam is an active and responsible member of the international community.
The assembly looks to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between VUFO, VPC, and other WPC’s councils and members. It also promotes communication activity about Vietnam and the Vietnamese peace movement, enlisting the support of the WPC and its members on issues that are in line with Vietnam's interests such as the South China Sea and Agent Orange/dioxin.
