Nguyen Thi Lien, a Vietnamese teacher, moved to Malaysia to work with her husband in 2012. Due to her frequent trips to Vietnam, Lien witnesses the country's changes in all aspects, from culture, society, and politics to the economy, which strengthens her pride in the homeland.

Lien is currently the President of the Vietnamese Club. Majoring in pedagogy in linguistics, teaching Vietnamese is her passion. For the past seven years, Lien has been in charge of the Vietnamese language club, which receives strong support from the Vietnamese Women's Union in Malaysia and the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia.

According to Lien, teaching and learning Vietnamese aims to preserve Vietnamese national identity and culture in the second and third generations, helping them not to forget their roots. The Vietnamese language is a cultural connection to unite Vietnamese around the world. She believes that her small contribution has great significance in preserving the national identity.

Nguyen Quoc Hoang, Chairman of the Vietnamese Liaison Committee in Slangor, said that he often visited his hometown in Ha Tinh, which has been developing quickly in recent years. For him, April 30 is commemorated for the glorious victory of the nation, on which the South was completely liberated, ending the longest and most devastating war to protect the country from foreign aggression.

As Chairman of the Vietnamese Liaison Committee in Selangor, he is proud of the country. Though living far from his hometown, he always tries to keep up with community solidarity with meaningful activities such as trips to Truong Sa, solidarity football tournaments, and community New Year celebrations to connect Vietnamese expats.

Hoang hopes that the Vietnamese community in Malaysia will constantly grow and contribute to the construction of the homeland.

Pham Hong Lam, a member of the Vietnam Business Association, under the Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association, also sees the drastic change of the homeland every time she visits her relatives in Vietnam.

Hong Lam said she is delighted to hear her Malaysian friends complimented Vietnam's high GDP growth rate. The Vietnamese community in Malaysia is growing stronger through many meaningful activities such as "Good leaves protect torn leaves"; “Greenify Truong Sa”; “Supporting people in the Central Region”…

Hong Lam hopes that the Vietnamese community in Malaysia stays united, has a solid position in the host country, and always look towards Vietnam with much love.
