70th anniversary of National Day marked in New Zealand, Iran and Nigeria
(VNF) - The Vietnamese Embassy in New Zealand organized the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day and the 40th anniversary of Vietnam – New Zealand diplomatic relations establishment on September 3rd in Wellington.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Viet Dung affirmed the great significance of the Declaration of Independence and reviewed the achievements that Vietnam has achieved over the past 70 years, especially socio-economic achievements and international integration since the renovation.

The Ambassador appreciated the strong development of the comprehensive cooperation relations between Vietnam and New Zealand in recent years, and highlighted the good results of the official visit of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to New Zealand in March 2015.

Ms. Jo Goodhew, Minister of Food Safety, congratulated Vietnam on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of National Day and the socio-economic achievements over the past years and expressed pleasure about the good progresses of the friendly and cooperation relations between New Zealand and Vietnam, especially the two sides have carried out many activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations establishment (1975-2015).

On this occasion, the distinguished guests had an opportunity to witness a modern Vietnam through reportages and photos about the country and people of Vietnam and enjoyed art performances and traditional dishes of Vietnam.

*** On September 2nd, the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran organized a ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Nguyen Hong Thach said that over the past 70 years, Vietnam has implemented the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh. Vietnam has closed the past and looked to the future.

The Ambassador confirmed that Vietnam is an active member and partner of many regional and world organizations such as ASEAN and the UN.

On this occasion, he also underlined the cooperation potentials between Iran and Vietnam. However, to exploit the cooperation potentials, the Ambassador said that both sides should endeavor for people of both countries to strengthen mutual understanding.

On behalf of the Iranian government, Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Rahimpour appreciated the achievements that Vietnam has achieved over the past time, while affirming Iran would further promote the relations between the two countries to a new height.

At the ceremony, in addition to introducing Vietnam’s special dishes, the guests also enjoyed an art program performed by Vietnamese artists.

*** Earlier on September 1st, the Vietnamese Embassy in Nigeria’s Abuja capital organized a ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of National Day.

At the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Nigeria Hoang Ngoc Ho affirmed the great significance of September 2nd, 1945 when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence.

Regarding the Vietnam-Nigeria relations, Ambassador Hoang Ngoc Ho said that in recent years, the relations between the two countries have developed rapidly in terms of politics and economics. The total two-way trade turnover between Vietnam-Nigeria in 2014 reached around USD288 million.

The Ambassador also affirmed the Vietnamese Embassy in Nigeria would be ready to assist Vietnamese businesses to seek the Nigerian market of the country./.
