Gardeners caring for bougainvillea don’t need to worry much about water once the plants mature. They irrigate only when the plants start to wilt and the soil is dry.
Bougainvillea is also a very attractive genus for Bonsai enthusiasts, due to its ease of planting and radiant flowering. They can be kept as indoor houseplants in temperate regions and kept small by bonsai techniques.
Every summer, around May and June, the paper flower tree enters its flowering season and becomes an attractive check-in place for tourists when visiting Da Lat.

The tree is a woody variety, different from the bougainvillea vines that are often grown along fences or clinging to door frames.
The tree stump is big and strong. The foliage is wide, reaching out to the street, casting cool shade on the entire yard, enough for visitors to stop and comfortably take pictures and admire the scenery.
The flowers are purple and pink, forming clusters at the ends of the branches. The plant is easy to care for and blooms all year round. The sunnier the weather, the more vibrant the flower colors are, creating a striking scene in the region.
The leaves are alternate, simple ovate-acuminate. The actual flower of the plant is small and generally white. Still, each cluster of three flowers is surrounded by three or six bracts with the bright colors associated with the plant, including pink, magenta, purple, red, orange, white, or yellow. Bougainvilleas are rapid growers, flowering all year round in the tropics and subtropics. The species grow one to 12 meters tall, scrambling over other plants with their spiky thorns.
