He affirmed their essential role in developing a socialist-oriented cultural industry, enriching the spiritual life of the people, and enhancing the nation's distinctive cultural identity. He emphasized that Vietnam is at a historic threshold, ready to enter a new era of development, prosperity, and advancement. The Party, State, and people place their hope and trust in the significant transformation and contributions of artists and writers during this new revolutionary phase.

The highest and most noble mission of revolutionary artists and writers is to shape cultural characteristics and contribute to building socialist individuals, the Party chief noted. General Secretary To Lam called for the development of a contingent of artists and writers as steadfast revolutionary soldiers on the Party’s ideological and cultural front.

He urged them to immerse themselves in the lives of people, especially those in remote, disadvantaged, border, island, and ethnic minority areas, and to play a more active role in performing social tasks. Their works must have high artistic value, hold ideological significance, inspire national pride, and serve as a cultural force that ensures the enduring vitality of the nation, he continued.

The General Secretary called for a vigorous renewal in the management, development, and promotion of talents in this field. The Party Central Committee’s Secretariat and Commission for Information and Education, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and relevant agencies were asked to soon provide consultations on the implementation of the 2025-2035 national target program for cultural development and review a Politburo resolution on continuing to build and develop literature and arts in the new era. He also suggested issuing a national strategy for literature and arts in the new era.

At the meeting, Do Hong Quan, President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, commended the dedication of artists from 10 national art associations and 63 provincial associations, calling them a strong force deeply rooted in the nation's culture and people.

He highlighted the significant role artists play in shaping new values and fostering a culture of love, unity, resilience, and creativity. These contributions are essential for building a modern Vietnamese identity while maintaining ethical and humanistic values. However, he acknowledged certain challenges, including the absence of monumental works that truly capture the spirit of the times.

Do Hong Quan pointed out that some market trends and foreign influences have led some artists to create shallow, commercially driven works, which dilute the essence of Vietnamese culture.

Furthermore, he noted the limited succession of artistic talent, with fewer young artists emerging to carry on the legacy of the senior generation. Training and mentoring programs for young artists lack sufficient structure and support. He urged artists to aspire to create meaningful works with profound ideological and artistic value, fulfilling their responsibilities to the Party, State, and people.

He noted ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to propose government policies supporting training in specialized and unique art professions. However, he also pointed out gaps in existing policies, suggesting revisions to the legal framework to better support art education and development.

He called for comprehensive policies to attract, support, and nurture talent in the arts, ensuring systematic and sustainable development. Suitable benefits and recognition for educators, artists, and cultural workers were also emphasized.
