President of the France-Vietnam Friendship Association (AAFV) Gerard Daviot said his association has carried out numerous activities in support of the Vietnamese people over the past time.
The association has provided assistance to the poor and Agent Orange/dioxin victims, and supported Tran To Nga’s lawsuit against companies that had manufactured and supplied toxic chemicals to the US military during the war in Vietnam, he told Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang on September 27.
The association has also organised a range of people-to-people exchange programmes to strengthen the friendship and promote the image of Vietnam among French people and foreign travelers, VOV reported.
Daviot affirmed that his association will continue its support and solidarity activities with Vietnam, especially in the fight against Covid-19, climate change response, and personnel training for development.
He said the AAFV’s executive committee will hold a congress this November to chart a new course for future development.

For his part, Thang highly appreciated the AAFV’s recent contributions to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two countries’ people, and expressed his wish that the association will stands side by side with the Vietnamese people in the current difficult and challenging period against Covid-19, as well as in realising national construction and development goals in the coming years.
The two sides discussed a number of issues of mutual concern as well as future plans to further lift up bilateral ties between Vietnam and France, Nhan dan (People) newspaper said.
On the occasion, the AAFV leader invited Ambassador Thang to attend the congress of the AAFV’s executive committee. The diplomat accepted the invitation.
The AAFV was formed in 1961 with the aim of supporting Vietnamese people in the struggle for national independence. The association has always stood by Vietnamese people in the cause of national construction and development. With a wide network covering all French cities and provinces, diverse activities by the association have helped connect and gather French friends who love Vietnam across the European country.

The PM expressed his hope that French businesses and organisations would support Vietnam by providing medical equipment, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He called for stepping up bilateral cooperation in medicine, especially through sharing their experiences in combating the epidemic, VnExpress reported.
Warnery said he would cooperate with French authorities to boost the progress for completing the ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), and to seek ways to aid Vietnam with more Covid-19 vaccines, among other assistance.
France provided 672,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Vietnam through the global vaccine access mechanism Covax on September 14./.
