A trade, investment and tourism promotion event recently organized by the Vietnamese Consulate General in Sydney in collaboration with the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia, the Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology in Australia and national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines.

The program titled 'Explore Vietnam' is the first large-scale event of Vietnam to take place in Australia, after more than two years the two countries were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the form of exhibitions of different industries, from handicrafts, textiles, footwear, agricultural products, construction to industrial goods, machinery, a lot of Vietnam's strong export products have been showcased.

More than 30 localities across the country also participated in the program, through video tapes promoting local images and investment policies.

In addition, at the tourism product display area, Vietnam Airlines took passengers to discover Vietnam through nearly 30 landscape photos, stretching across three regions, leaving the mark of a beautiful and poetic Vietnam.

Consul General Nguyen Dang Thang assessed that one of the most important aspects of the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Australia is trade, which has grown by an average of nearly 10% per year in the two decades before the Covid-19 outbreak.

In 2023, Vietnam and Australia will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Consul General Nguyen Dang Thang believes that the relationship between the two countries will become more and more stable and be raised to new heights.

A special highlight of the program is the display area of the Vietnamese traditional costumes in the book Weaving a Realm, introducing royal court of the Later Le Dynasty (1533 - 1789).

The Vietnamese traditional costumes in the book Det Nen Trieu Dai (Weaving A Realm) has been displayed at the University of Sydney (Australia), in the presence of diplomatic guests from numerous countries.

The book, first bilingual one about Vietnamese costumes in the 15th century, aims to reconstruct the rituals and fashion of Vietnamese in the early Le Dynasty from 1437 to 1471.

Vietnam Centre, a non-profit organization based in Sydney, was a guest of Vietnam’s Consulate General in this event. The event took place at MacLaurin Hall, one of the main halls of the University of Sydney, built more than a century ago in Gothic architectural style.
