Vietnamese Ambassador Ngo Toan Thang met with leaders of the City Center supermarket chain, discussing ways to promote Vietnam's goods.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Kuwait Ngo Toan Thang on February 4 met with leaders of the City Center supermarket chain, one of the supermarket chains with the leading market share in Kuwait, aims to help City Center access goods from Vietnam.

Welcoming the Ambassador were Adel Y. Al-Ghanim, chairman of Alghanim Sons, its parent group, and Jasim Y. Al-Ghanim, CEO of the City Center supermarket chain.

City Center supermarket chain was established in 1999, and has a system of hypermarkets, supermarkets, and convenience stores, with the largest store in Kuwait covering up to over 20,000 sqm. City Center currently owns 16 large supermarkets in Kuwait, as well as expanding its influence into the Iraqi market, building a strategic footprint in this country.

At the meeting, the diplomat visited and listened to Adel and Jasim Y. Al-Ghanim share about the commodity system at City Center, as well as business activities at the current supermarket chain.

With diverse products, City Center is currently looking to expand its goods system through sources of goods from Asian countries, including Vietnam. Previously, some Vietnamese food products such as coconuts and lemons were presented at the City Center supermarket system.

Ambassador Ngo Toan Thang affirmed that effective and stable trade activities between Vietnam and Kuwait over the past many years have created a reputation for Vietnamese products and goods with many businesses in Kuwait; expressed confidence that City Center will benefit from finding Vietnam's strong products such as seafood, vegetables, fruits, clothing, and electronic devices, helping to ensure supply for Kuwaiti people.

For his part, Adel Y. Al-Ghanim, chairman of Alghanim Sons Group, affirmed that the long history of Vietnam-Kuwait relations is an important key for City Center to decide to choose Vietnam as one of the import channels in the future.

He hopes that shortly, the City Center system will have the opportunity to introduce more Vietnamese products to Kuwaiti people.
