Celebrating 100th Birthday of Outstanding People's Diplomat Do Xuan Oanh
The Vietnam Peace Committee in collaboration with the Vietnam - US Society held a meeting to celebrate the 100th birthday of the late composer Do Xuan Oanh, former Vice President and Secretary General of the World Peace Protection Committee of Vietnam (now Vietnam Peace Committee).
This is an opportunity to honor the late musician's contributions to the revolution, people-to-people diplomacy and the country's arts.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Vietnam Peace Committee (VPC) Uong Chu Luu reviewed the revolutionary career of the late musician Xuan Oanh.

According to the VPC Chairman, the late musician was not only a talented artist, a translator, and a journalist, but also an excellent people's diplomat. His "wide front" is on the people-to-people diplomatic front.
Do Xuan Oanh is one of the participants in establishing the World Peace Protection Committee of Vietnam under the direction of the Party and Uncle Ho to mobilize, call for, and take advantage of the solidarity and support of the people who love peace and progress all over the world. He was a member of the delegation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam at the Paris Conference on Vietnam from 1968-1972; and attended many international peace conferences.
"With a deep understanding of the history and culture of other countries and Vietnam, with an intimate, sincere, simple, and inspirational style of dialogue and conversation, Xuan Oanh has convinced and inspired Many international partners and friends, including many American pilots who are prisoners of war, oppose the war and support Vietnam," VPC Chairman Uong Chu Luu said.
The VPC Chairman also emphasized that in people-to-people diplomacy, Xuan Oanh is a shining example of understanding, experience, intelligence, and artistry, especially in advocacy, Convince international friends to support Vietnam.

At the meeting, delegates watched a documentary looking back at the late composer Xuan Oanh's path of dedication to the revolution and people's diplomacy.
On behalf of the family, journalist Do Le Chi, the youngest son of the late composer Xuan Oanh, sent his thanks and shared his pride that his former colleagues and the next generation still remember his father. At the same time, they honor the values that Xuan Oanh left behind for the revolutionary cause, for Vietnam, for peace and friendship between peoples, especially Vietnam-US relations.
"He is a musician, everyone knows that through the lifelong revolutionary song ‘Muoi Chin Thang Tam’ (August 19). But we here know about a very different Xuan Oanh, a man who is quiet and quiet as a musician. A people's diplomat. This is the Xuan Oanh that the country needed in the resistance war against the US to save the country. And this is also the part of life that he devoted himself to with all his enthusiasm, love, and understanding, which is the most meaningful part of his life.

Sharing about composer Xuan Oanh, Vu Xuan Hong, former president of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), said that this is an outstanding figure in Vietnam's people-to-people diplomacy. The great legacy of people's foreign affairs activities that he left behind is difficult to replace.
The former president of VUFO also expressed his hope that the VPC and his colleagues will accompany his family to continue researching and collecting documents about Xuan Oanh in people-to-people diplomatic work. Digitizing those precious documents and turning them into handbooks for people working in people-to-people diplomacy.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late composer Xuan Oanh, the book "Do Xuan Oanh: Robin's Wings of Revolutionary Spring" was officially launched. The book is divided into three main chapters and two parts. Opening with the article used as the main title of the book, "Xuan Oanh - Robin's Wings of the Revolutionary Spring" by journalist Do Le Chau, who is the eldest son of the musician, and the ending is 'Some Xuan Oanh's literary and artistic works.' In this conclusion, readers have access to music by musician Xuan Oanh.
