Celebrating the 93rd anniversary of Thailand’s National Day: affirming strong Thailand-Vietnam ties despite COVID-19 pandemic

On the afternoon of December 3, Thailand Embassy in Hanoi celebrated the 93rd anniversary of Thailand’s National Day (December 5, 1927 - December 5, 2020) and commemorated the birthday of the late Thailand King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The event witnessed the attendance of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Phuong Nga, President of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association Ta Quang Ngoc, Chargé D'affaires of Thailand Embassy in Vietnam Morakot Janemathukorn, representatives from foreign agencies in Vietnam as well as Thailand and Vietnamese enterprises.

Chargé D'affaires of Thailand Embassy in Vietnam Morakot Janemathukorn asserted that Thailand would always stand side by side with Vietnam and ASEAN countries for peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Morakot Janemathukorn said that December 5 every year is not only Thailand’s National Day, but also the birthday of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the Father's Day in Thailand. King Bhumibol Adulyadej is considered a Father of Thailand, who devoted his whole life to the national agriculture and sustainable development, helping to improve people's lives, especially in remote areas. On this occasion, Thailand people together with international friends hold a ceremony to commemorate the late venerable King. His legacy is always in the hearts of Thailand people.

Ms. Morakot Janemathukorn stressed that despite the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the friendship between Thailand and Vietnam has flourished.

“I am extremely happy to see that we are still together here, on a nice day in Hanoi, while there are many of our colleagues elsewhere having to hold the ceremony in a new normal situation. I admire the Vietnamese Government for its drastic, responsible, and effective measures in COVID-19 fight”, Ms. Morakot Janemathukorn said.

Next year, Thailand and Vietnam will celebrate the 45th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations which will be an important milestone in the friendship between the two countries.

“As friends and strategic partners, I am confident that we will continue cooperating for the prosperity and happiness of our people. Cooperation in culture, education, human resource development, and tourism have deepened our mutual understanding. The young generation has played an important role in the two nations’ economies. Thailand will always stand side by side with Vietnam and ASEAN countries for peace, stability and sustainable development in the region”, Chargé D'affaires Morakot Janemathukorn affirmed.

On behalf of the Government and people of Vietnam, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung sent best wishes to the Government and people of Thailand, adding that over the past years Vietnam-Thailand ties have thrived not only within the bilateral framework but also at regional and international forums.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung once again thanked the Thailand Government for aiding US$ 30,000 for flood-victims in Vietnam’s Central region.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung also expressed the belief that Vietnam-Thailand relations will be further consolidated in the time ahead, meeting the wishes of the two nations’ people as well as making a positive contribution to peace, stability, cooperation, and sustainable development in the region and in the world.
