Access to clean energy for Apple manufacturers in Vietnam
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Tim Cook, CEO of Apple - the world's largest technology company on the morning of April 16. This is Tim Cook's first time coming to Vietnam.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked Apple and its partners for their important contributions to Vietnam's development.
They create jobs for people, bringing Vietnam deeper into Apple's global supply chain. Vietnam has an increasingly important position in Apple's development strategy.
According to the Prime Minister, Vietnam-United States relations are developing well, the two countries have just upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership (September 2023). Vietnam has become a major trading partner of the United States, and an important link in the supply chain of many goods for the US market.
The Prime Minister said that the scope for cooperation between Vietnam and Apple is still large based on the relationship between the two countries. Vietnam has a large domestic consumer market with a population of 100 million people. Vietnam also participates in 17 bilateral and multilateral FTAs with about 60 major economies in the world.
"Vietnam is ready to coordinate with Apple to establish a working group to support Apple in investing and expanding operations in Vietnam, contributing to promoting relations between the two countries," the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister asked Apple to focus on investing and expanding business activities in Vietnam, identifying Vietnam as a base for Apple globally.
He wants to bring qualified Vietnamese businesses to participate more deeply in Apple's value chain.

Apple's CEO appreciated the Prime Minister's discussion about Vietnam's major directions and development goals, especially paying attention to inclusive and sustainable development, protecting the Earth and developing people, ensuring a peaceful and stable environment for development.
Affirming that Apple values the participation of Vietnamese application developers in Apple products around the world, he announced that Apple's activities have created more than 200 thousand jobs in Vietnam.
"I am extremely satisfied and could not be more excited about the cooperative achievements we have gained, which is an example of a win-win, mutually beneficial relationship. I have great expectations for what we can do together to achieve even greater achievements in the future," Tim Cook said.
The CEO said that Apple is committed to buying more components manufactured by partners in Vietnam and supporting Vietnam in the field of innovation.
Apple increases spending on suppliers in Vietnam, and expands vocational training programs for people with disabilities, providing greater opportunities for them in the supply chain.
