With a total of 1,060 confirmed cases, as of June 16 HCM City is currently the third largest Covid-19 hotspot in the country, behind Bac Giang (4,680 cases) and Bac Ninh (1,442 cases). The city has 371 lockdown areas and is in its second 14-day social distancing period.
To support HCMC with the complex development of the Covid-19 pandemic, World Vision Vietnam has coordinated with the city Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) to hand over a US$ 15, 898 Covid-19 emergency aid package to the People's Committee of District 4.
The aid package will be delivered to residents, medical staff and frontline service workers in three quarantine areas of District 4. It includes 50,000 medical masks, 500 bottles of disinfectant solution and 1,000 protective suits.
This aid package is part of World Vision Vietnam's Covid-19 National Response and Recovery Program. More than US$ 1.8 million has been distributed by World Vision Vietnam's project sites nationwide.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, World Vision Vietnam’s Operations Director Than Thi Ha said that the Covid-19 pandemic had caused comprehensive consequences to the lives of all groups in society, especially vulnerable children.
With the aid package, World Vision Vietnam affirmed its commitment to working closely with the community and local authorities in efforts to ensure people's safety and protect them from the spread of the virus, Ha said.
Le Van Chien, chairman of the People's Committee of District 4; Tran Vien Uyen Thi, chief representative of the District 4 program of World Vision; and Nguyen Thi Hong Diem, HUFO vice president, attended the ceremony.
