The resolution focuses on three key areas, including establishing a free trade zone, promoting innovation and science-technology, and advancing semiconductor technology and artificial intelligence (AI).

The Chairman noted that currently, Da Nang has three foreign direct investment (FDI) projects from New Zealand, with a total investment of US $245,000.

He said that this is modest compared to the potential of New Zealand investors and expressed his hope that the Ambassador would serve as a bridge to introduce New Zealand investors and businesses to explore opportunities in Da Nang in the fields of high technology, semiconductors, startups, tourism, education, and healthcare.

During the reception, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Council Tran Phuoc Son, shared the outcomes of the city's working visit to New Zealand in September 2024.

The city’s delegation successfully organized a workshop to promote cooperation and investment in Da Nang, held in Auckland. As part of the trip, the delegation worked with NZTech, New Zealand's leading technology industry association, to foster cooperation in high technology, and visited Alpha Laboratories, which is renowned for producing world-class healthcare products.

Vice Chairman Tran Phuoc Son also suggests that the Embassy facilitate connections with the Asia-New Zealand Foundation to bring a delegation of 100 businesses from various countries to survey the investment environment in Vietnam in July 2025, including a visit to Da Nang to explore investment opportunities.

New Zealand Ambassador Caroline Beresford highlighted that high technology, tourism, education, and healthcare are the current priority sectors for New Zealand's investment in Vietnam, particularly in Da Nang.

She reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between New Zealand and Da Nang to achieve more successful outcomes.

Looking ahead to 2025, which will mark the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-New Zealand diplomatic relations, Ambassador Caroline Beresford emphasized that this milestone will provide a significant opportunity for both countries to implement meaningful activities, further deepening bilateral cooperation.
