At the reception, the leaders of the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations provided updates on the city’s economic and social development, with a particular focus on initiatives aimed at fostering peace, solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between the people of Da Nang and the US in particular and the two countries’ peoples in general.

The Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam-US Friendship Association in Da Nang highly appreciated the delegation's activities, recognizing their positive contributions toward healing the wounds of war, supporting humanitarian initiatives, and advocating for justice for Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange.
Da Nang officials expressed hope that both sides will continue to collaborate on charitable and humanitarian projects and activities that strengthen the friendship between US civilian organizations and the people of Da Nang in the coming time.
On the same day, the Da Nang Veterans Association organized a gathering that brought together the US veterans and their families, local veterans, and families of fallen soldiers and Agent Orange victims.
During this gathering, the leaders of the Da Nang Veterans Association provided updates on their efforts in recent years, including the detoxification of Da Nang International Airport, care for Agent Orange victims, post-war demining and explosive ordnance disposal, and the search for the remains of fallen soldiers within the city.
The Da Nang Veterans Association also acknowledged the importance of people-to-people exchanges between the two countries in areas including healthcare, livelihood support, and post-war recovery.
Representatives of the US veterans' delegation expressed gratitude for the warm welcome from the Da Nang Veterans Association. They also noted that through these exchanges, they gained a deeper understanding of the challenges and resilience of Vietnamese veterans, families of fallen soldiers, and Agent Orange victims.
In a meeting on September 3, Vice President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Ngoc Hung shared information with the US veterans and their families about Vietnam’s socio-economic progress, foreign policy, and Vietnam-US relations in the context of people-to-people diplomacy. The US veterans emphasized that the purpose of their visit is to contribute to the healing and reconciliation process by engaging in meaningful interactions with Vietnamese veterans and families of fallen soldiers, visiting the Da Nang Agent Orange Victims Center, and touring former battlefields in Quang Nam Province. |
