Welcoming the Japanese delegation, Thi said that since Da Nang and Sakai elevated their ties to the status of friendship cities in 2019, they have maintained frequent exchanges such as the annual teleconference between the chairperson of the Da Nang People’s Committee and the mayor of Sakai to share information about their localities’ situations and work out cooperation orientations.

Exchanges of students and officials, along with cultural events have also been organized regularly to help strengthen bilateral friendship and cooperation, she noted, thanking the Deputy Mayor of Sakai for attending the Vietnam - Japan Festival 2024 in Da Nang.

The Vice Chairwoman asked both sides to maintain dialogue between their high-ranking officials, along with friendship and youth exchanges. They should prioritize in-person meetings to enhance mutual understanding between the two cities.

Thi also called on Sakai to continue introducing Da Nang to Japanese businesses and investors who plan to learn about and make investments in the Vietnamese city.

Hailing Da Nang’s dynamism and development potential, Motoya said the two cities have carried out various cooperation activities in the fields of economy, culture, education, and health care over the past years. Both also share the vision of building carbon-neutral and zero-emission cities.

He expressed his hope that they will continue cooperating fruitfully in such areas as environmental protection and tourism development in the coming time.

The same day, Thi received a delegation of the RoK’s Naju city led by Vice Chairman of the municipal Council Kim Kwan Yong.

The host official said that Da Nang and Naju share many similarities as well as cooperation opportunities for common development. They are also promoting investment attraction, environmental protection, and clean energy use.

Given this, she voiced her expectation that the Korean delegation’s visit will help further strengthen bilateral cooperation, boost the organization of more cultural exchanges and community connecting events, and step up investment promotion in the time ahead.

Noting that both localities are working to develop smart and ecological cities, Kim highlighted the wish to keep fostering bilateral partnerships.

As the numbers of Vietnamese and Korean tourists visiting each other’s countries are considerable, the cities should also open a direct air route to help facilitate tourism, trade, and economic development, the Naju official suggested.
