DAFO Collaborates with Da Nang Project-US on Covid-19

A group of self-employed locals in Lieu Chieu received VND 100 million from the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations (DAFO) and the Da Nang Project - US in early November 2021.

On Nov. 6, 2021, the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations (DAFO) and the Da Nang Project - US (formerly known as Da Nang/Quang Nam Fund) coordinated with the People's Committee of Lien Chieu district to organize a meeting with 100 local household with difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

100 million VND for 100 households in Lien Chieu District

Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen, vice president of DAFO and Nguyen Thi My Hoa, representative of Da Nang Project - US joined Nguyen Nhuong, vice chairman of Lien Chieu District People's Committee to present VND 100 million (US$ 4,342) in total to 100 people.

Other Lien Chieu district representatives were Nguyen Thi Hong Hanh - Member of the Standing Committee of the District, and many Heads of People’s Committee of different wards across Lien Chieu district.

The Vice President of DAFO said: “DAFO has mobilized VND 100 million from the support of the Da Nang Project (USA) for 100 households in Lien Chieu district."

"This is a gift from the US friends to people who are having difficulty in the area, hoping this support will help them with their daily lives. "

She also said she appreciated the collaboration of the People's Committee as well as the District Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and relevant units and individuals.

Vice Chairman of Lien Chieu District People's Committee Nguyen Nhuong briefly introduced the difficult situation of locals in the district caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and expressed his sincere thanks for the great support.

The practical and timely support DAFO and the Da Nang Project will significantly help improve their lives. The district will continue strict implement the prevention and control of Covid-19 in the meantime, he added.

DAFO and foreign non-governmental programs and projects of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations joined together in the implementation of the program.

They helped the social welfare program and supported the city's Covid-19 prevention and control in recent years, including Lien Chieu district.

Tuyen stated that in order to share difficulties with people in Lien Chieu district, DAFO focused on 100 self-employed households and presented them with VND 1 million (US$each.

"We hope that households will use the grant and overcome the current situation," he added.

The funds were raised by the Da Nang Project from US individuals who love Viet Nam and want to contribute to helping others get through the pandemic.

On Oct. 15 2021, DAFO received support from Da Nang Project - US to support freelance workers and low-income people in the city affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In Lien Chieu district alone, DAFO has organized many campaigns such as: giving bicycles, scholarships for poor students and advocating house repair for disadvantaged households. In 2020, DAFO also mobilized to give 30,000 masks to agencies and units in Lien Chieu.
