Diplomats Discuss Ways to Attract Qatar Investment to Vietnam

Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his delight at the developments of the Vietnam - Qatar bilateral friendship and cooperation in recent times. In terms of politics-diplomacy, the two countries regularly exchange delegations at all levels, most recently the official visit to Qatar by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan in May 2023, and closely coordinate on regional and international forums. In particular, the two sides have achieved many positive results, and economic cooperation mechanisms were maintained.
Ambassador Ali Abdullah Abel, for his part, affirmed Vietnam is a significant partner of Qatar in the Asia-Pacific region and pledged to make every effort to contribute to consolidating and strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two countries Vietnam and Qatar. Ambassador Ali Abdullah Abel outlined many major directions he will take to realize those commitments during his term.
Affirming that the current results of bilateral cooperation, although positive, are still not commensurate with the good political relations and potential between the two countries, Minister Bui Thanh Son and Ambassador Ali Abdullah Abel discussed and agreed on several specific measures to promote cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.
They mentioned solutions such as increasing the exchange of high-level delegations, with priority given to preparing for the visit to Vietnam by Qatari King Tamim Bin Hamad Bin Thani in the fourth quarter of 2023, strengthening trade promotion activities, and connecting businesses on both sides. They also addressed attracting Qatari investment funds to participate in oil and gas projects, renewable energy, infrastructure, and electric cars in Vietnam, researching the possibility of cooperation in agricultural projects and the Halal field, and increasing the attraction of tourists and highly skilled workers.
