Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar, Nguyen Huy Hiep, said that the Vietnamese community in Qatar, with about 450 people, is mainly working in construction, oil and gas, studying, researching, and business, with some working in Qatar's public prosecution agency. Among them, more than 300 are engineers in oil and gas companies in Qatar.
Although the Vietnamese community in Qatar is not large, its members are always united, abide by local laws, work hard, study diligently, and always maintain and promote national pride. They promote the image and cultural values of the nation in a foreign land, and especially always look towards their homeland, contributing to building a more prosperous homeland.
In recent years, the Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar has always strived to effectively implement all aspects of its work, contributing to fostering the development of Vietnam-Qatar relations, and promoting the image of Vietnam and its people in Qatar. Along with that, the Embassy has also done a good job in protecting citizens, resolving issues, and supporting the Vietnamese community in Qatar, especially during difficult times such as the pandemic.

The representative of the Vietnamese community in Qatar requested the Prime Minister to continue voicing support for the Vietnamese community in Qatar, urging the Qatari government to create more favorable conditions for Vietnamese people to work and live in Qatar. They also suggested that the two sides should have a labor cooperation agreement, negotiate for Qatar to provide more scholarships for Vietnamese students, and have a more open visa policy to facilitate people-to-people exchanges and tourism.
In particular, the community requested support for opening Vietnamese language classes for Vietnamese children in Qatar, and when returning to Vietnam after working in Qatar, they should be facilitated in finding jobs in Vietnamese agencies and enterprises.
The Prime Minister said that the Party and State consider the overseas Vietnamese community an inseparable part of the Vietnamese ethnic community. The Party and State always care for the people, regardless of whether they are Vietnamese at home or abroad because our Party and State have no higher goal than bringing an increasingly happy and prosperous life to the people.
The Prime Minister said that the relationship between Vietnam and Qatar in particular and the Middle Eastern countries in general has developed well. However, economic relations are still limited, not commensurate with the political and diplomatic relations, potential, and aspirations of the people. Therefore, during this working trip, the Prime Minister and the leaders of the countries will discuss promoting economic cooperation.
Informing that the Vietnamese community abroad has about 6 million people, in about 130 countries, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that the people will continue to unite and comply with local laws. He hopes that the community will always preserve and promote national cultural values, especially mobilizing, to find jobs, scholarships, and investment opportunities.
Affirming that the Party and State always protect the legitimate rights and interests of the Vietnamese people, the Prime Minister requested the Embassy to always pay attention to and strengthen its connection with the Vietnamese people, so that the Embassy and the community can become reliable support when the Vietnamese people encounter difficulties and hardships.
