Discover Vong Canh Hill – A Dreamy Landscape In Hue

Vong Canh Hill Hue used to be a stopover for the resting and sightseeing of the Nguyen Dynasty emperors. Surrounding the hill is the system of Royal tombs of the Nguyen Dynasty such as the Dong Khanh Mausoleum; Tu Duc Tomb, Thieu Tri Mausoleum, Xuong Tho Mausoleum, Thanh Cung Mausoleum, and others. Nowadays, It is still an impressive attraction for history lovers to explore.

From here, visitors can enjoy the green orchards of areca, longan, oranges, tangerines, pomelo… mixed in the pine sequence, gray tile roofs of temples, and ancient mausoleums. They can also admire the poetic beauty of the Perfume River around the bottom of the hill – a symbol of Hue nature.
The route to Vong Canh Hill is relatively flat and easy to navigate, with shady pine trees lining both sides. Tourists can follow Hoai Thanh Street from the city center, then turn right onto Le Ngo Cat Street. Continue straight for about 5km, and they will arrive at the destination. The travel time to reach the hill is approximately 30 minutes.

The perfect time to fully enjoy the beauty of Vong Canh Hill is during the twilight hours. During this time, the sun is gradually hiding behind the mountains, painting the sky with a beautiful shade of red and orange. Standing on the rolling hills, travelers can gaze into the distance and see the lush gardens nourished by the sediment of the Perfume River.
Although not as popular as other tourist attractions, Vong Canh Hill still captivates visitors. Along the road to the hill, tourists can enjoy the shade of trees lining both sides and the scattered small houses.
Vong Canh Hill with its lush natural surroundings is an ideal camping and picnic spot. Tourists can prepare a little food and drink in advance, then go to the hill to set up a small tent and experience the nature of the mountains with their friends or families. This will be a memorable experience.

Near Vong Canh Hill, tourists can explore many famous beautiful scenes of poetic Hue. They can find several tombs of kings of the Nguyen Dynasty with unique architecture.
First of all, the mausoleum of King Tu Duc must be mentioned. The tomb of King Tu Duc is only about 1km from Vong Canh Hill. This is the most beautiful mausoleum among the mausoleums of the Nguyen kings because it brings harmony between the immense natural scenery and unique architectural space.
This is a traditional mausoleum, ancient and full of Confucian colors. Minh Mang Tomb is located on Cam Khe mountain, a prime location sought by the king for 14 years. Minh Mang Tomb is one of the most majestic and standard architectural works of the Nguyen Dynasty. The mausoleum is surrounded by green trees, rivers, lakes, and mountains. All create a wonderful landscape picture that makes people admire.

Although smaller in size than the mausoleum of the previous kings, King Khai Dinh’s mausoleum was also built elaborately and meticulously.
The best time to visit Hue is, in particular, in March and April, when it is normally dry and the climate is cooler although there is still light rain. If tourists want to discover the ancient capital with royal music, it is recommended to visit this city on the occasion of the Hue Festival which is usually held around April each year, or at Hung King Memorial Day (the 10th day of the third lunar month).
